chance for showers. there are light sprinkles out there. they already crossed south of baltimore. there's more up into southern pennsylvania. so it's just showing that it's going to be a little more unsettled today. i think for baltimore, our best chance is to see more showers will be in afternoon. if you have outdoor plans i would start off the day thinking you could be outdoors. it's the evening hours that we may see more showers. 54 at the airport. high temperature today just as cool, in the low 70s. again, that chance for showers starting late in the afternoon towards the evening hours. we'll talk about what comes up in the seven day which includes more rain. stay tuned. our big story. once again the orioles. it was a little closer last night, but they once again take down the red sox. >> right. how about them o's. manny machado turns a double play to get the o's out of the inning. then a few innings later the 19-year-old breaks a 3-3 tie with his seventh home run of the year. that's where the score would stay. tying them for first in the the american league east with the yankees. p

. in a statement, they explain why everything ended. they say the baltimore county police department thoroughly investigate all charges. in this case, and no force was used during the encounter. maryland law is very specific about criteria for charges to be brought in a sexual assault case and those required elements are not in this case. also when juveniles engaging in sexual activity, a certain age difference must be present in order for the act to be a crime. that is not present in this case. the parents did meet with the school principal who promised she would take action. the parents will keep their daughter out of school temporarily until this is all result. wbal-tv 11 news. >> police say a mother left five small children alone in a hotel room while she committed a robbery. she is facing a long list of charges including five counts of confining an unattended trout. she and another man entered a hotel room and demanded money. police obtained a key from the employee and found five children ranging in ages from four months to six years old. they are being cared for by a relative. and what st

this morning is first lady michelle obama's visit to baltimore. she spoke to a sold out crowd at a fund-raising event at morgan state university. tv cameras weren't allowed inside that venue but those who paid to get in said the first lady got a rock star reception. >> it was beyond anything i have ever heard. i never heard anyone walk on a stage and get such an eruption of powerful love. >> some of the 2,000 supporters who packed the murphy fine arts center describe a loud and long explosion of cheers as first lady michelle obama took the stage. >> it did really erupt. she hardly could get started talking and people just wouldn't even let her stop. >> only print journalists were allowed inside, no tv cameras allowed, but supporters shared some pictures as they explained the consistent themes of the first lady's speech. most say she focussed a lot of education and health care. >> talking about students receiving aid and grants. i'm a graduating senior. i go to school on federal aid. if it wasn't for the bills that barack obama has passed, i would be unable to attend. so that was a highl

we say good morning to kim. >> good morning. the major roadways are checking out ok. in baltimore county, route 24 is shutdown in both directions for some debris. there's also some debris in harford county. in the city, a couple of things to talk about. most of the closures from the grand prix oregon. one that remains is on sharp street between pratt and conway street. monument street is closed near patterson park. that is for the road that buckled for the water main break. this is the beltway north of security boulevard along the west side. things are moving pretty well. this is 95 at 100 in howard county. traffic is moving just fine. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> police have been busy overnight investigating a pair of shootings that sent four people to the hospital. at pratt street, the identities of the people are not known. the second shooting happened just after 9:00 p.m. last night. one of the victims was found on reet.strone st >> a mother is dead following a weekend shooting. police are calling her death senseless. kim dacey is live in the studio with more on

valley high school. more information as it becomes available. >> baltimore city police are investigating the death of a man who died while in their custody. >> jennifer franciotti is live with the latest on this investigation. good morning. >> good morning. anthony anderson died on friday night after a confrontation with police. his granddaughter's birthday party when officers assaulteda number of family members say they witnessed the event. two detectives are telling a different story. they say they caught anderson in a drug deal. >> they observed him put what they suspected to be some type of narcotics in his mouth in an atttempt to hide them. so they placed him under arrest for that, took him into police custody, put handcuffs on him. he then started complaining of discomfort and pain. it was believed at the time that he may have ingested some of the drugs that he had and maybe was choking on them. >> police say the officers have been placed on suspension with pay pending the outcome of this investigation. more on the story coming up at 6:30. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> b
